As we are in the middle of the excitement that is Maths Week, we in the senior team thought it would be an idea to post a fact sheet for parents on how you can help with your child's maths homework. The ideas are from Jo Boaler, who runs the excellent Youcubed project out of Stanford University. Their motto is "Inspire ALL students with open, creative mindset mathematics". She offers some really practical ideas for getting the excitement and wonder back into maths for children.

As part of our celebrations for Book Week, students in Room 26 & 27 were asked to create a diorama of a scene from a book that they have enjoyed. This could have either been fiction or non - fiction.
The results were amazing. Students included lots of detail.
I wonder if you can guess what book they are from?

This week we have the Enviroschools Facilitator Sonya Sedgwick coming in to school to work with classes to create stone art. We will be painting our own rocks to represent the different stars within the Matariki Constellation. We have been learning the Matariki Waiata to sing during the workshop.
